I had the the pleasure of joining in on Heather Benge beautiful Shoot Crawl this past spring. It’s a two day event filled with multiple styled shoot vignettes at a notable venue with over the top florals, big gowns, and all of the newest wedding trends in the industry. This year’s spring shoot crawl was held at the beautiful Sunstone Winery in the heart of Santa Ynez, California. If you’re unsure where this is, it’s located just about an hour north of Santa Barbara.
I love indulging in a pretty shoot here and there because it allows me to be more creative as well as discover other ways I can compose with my couples on their wedding day!
My favorite shoot that day was this beautiful secret garden inspired bridal look. Upon walking into the private room at the top of the grand stairway of the Sunstone, there was a tall ladder with florals climbing up the walls. The composition included garden roses, posies, butterfly ranunculus, poppies, blue thistle, and even featured some stand-out proteas and peonies that were pulled in together with plenty of greens from kumquats to eucalyptus and everything in-between. It is every photographer’s dream that their couples would invest in some dreamy florals in their bridal suite; and although this isn’t typical– this is such a pretty inspiration for all my planning couples! I can already see this look be used as the altar setup, a photobooth backdrop, or even the grand backdrop of a sweetheart table!
Heather recently launched a gown rental company called Styled Gowns and this beautiful fluffy pink dress is one of the pretty pieces she has curated. I have yet to shoot an actual bride with a pink wedding dress but this gown makes me want to throw another wedding just so I can have a fun colored gown!
